Venison Forum
Research shows that humans have been eating venison for 50,000 years. At an early point in time, man was even culling excess young male deer so the breeding herd would continue to flourish. (Diggers have found a preponderance of young male deer bones in caves!) We Westerners changed our diet beginning around 1600 when cattle, sheep, hogs, and goats became the domestic meat resource of choice because they had all that marvelous fat for keeping us warm and burning the mid-night oil.
