The festival was originally organized in 1966 by the Plymouth Jaycees as a Labor Day festival observing the Sesquicentennial. The following year, a group of citizens formed a Board of Directors and organized what is today's largest four-day festival in Indiana. Arts & Crafts are an integral part of the Blueberry Festival, with over 300 vendors from allover the United States showcasing their art. Local and regional businesses are given the opportunity to promote their products in the Commercial area, adding a different scope to the festival. Plus, what would the Blueberry Festival be without Food, especially your favorite blueberry products like Blueberry Pie, Blueberry Brats, Blueberry Ice Cream, Blueberry Donuts or just plain fresh Blueberries! In addition, over 100 food vendors, including many local, non-profit organizations, will be serving many of your favorites, whether it is time for breakfast, lunch, dinner or that snack that you crave.

Since that first festival in 1978, Valparaiso has continued to honor the man who became America's Popcorn King. The Valparaiso Popcorn Festival continues to offer family-fun activities for all ages with over 500 food and craft booths, kid's games and rides, a 5-mile run (popcorn panic) and a 5K walk, live entertainment, and THE NATION'S ONLY POPCORN PARADE! Scheduled annually on the Saturday after Labor Day, the Valparaiso Popcorn Festival is located in beautiful downtown Valparaiso.
